"There are also reports that 90% of homeless people are using illegal drugs."

So what do we do with people who use illegal drugs? Arrest them, and give them free shelter, food and medical care in prison. Are you willing to vote for bonds to build new prisons for them?

"When that happens, even you will wonder why the richest state in the union could ever allow this?
How could the richest country in the history of the world allow it?

"The issue is that the left doesn't prioritize the safety of the public."
And yet, it's the left that's trying to find solutions to homelessness, and it's the right that is soft on public safety. Go figure.

Texas ranks 11th most dangerous state in the U.S., study finds

("At the bottom of the list was Kansas"; there are only 15 states on the list. They're mostly all red, and we're not on it. Sorry. I know you would be much happier if we were.;')

TEXAS — Texas ranks as the 11th most dangerous state in the nation, according to a report from 24/7 Wall Street culled from FBI data.

Using information from FBI’s 2021 Uniform Crime Report, business news website 24/7 Wall St. determined the 15 most dangerous states in the United States based on violent crime rate. The site categorized offenses into rape, aggravated assault, robbery and homicide.

Each of the ranked dangerous states had above the national rate of 334 violent crimes reported per 100,000 in 2021. According to the list, Texas had the highest number of violent crimes committed last year, totaling over 115,000 crimes, and led the nation in murders at nearly 2,000. The Lone Star State ranked 11th on the list of most dangerous states, with 391.1 crimes per 100,000 people.

Texas also had the ninth highest poverty rate in the nation in 2021 at 14.2%. According to 24/7 Wall St., there is a correlation between violent crime rate and the state's poverty rate.

Louisiana came in first as the most dangerous state in the nation with a violent crime rate of 564 per 100,000 people and had 738 murders in 2021. At the bottom of the list was Kansas with a violent crime rate of 345.8 per 100,000 people and 141 murders last year.
