Sundance’s not so subtle point : this time the MAGA scruffnecks will, for the first time in years, clearly see who the enemy within the republican ranks really are

Obama was a famously divisive president. BUT, he was always careful to create those division in such a way that he would end up with the majority of the votes. Which he did.

A guy like Lenin spent his entire life splitting and dividing the social democratic movement. He wrote hundreds of articles and books attacking everyone who differed to any degree from his thinking. He ended up with a small but dedicated group of professional revolutionaries - which was what he wanted. He was brutal, he won - and created a far, far more despotic regime than under the Tsars.

Unlike many on the Left, WE are NOT revolutionaries. We are fighting to become the party of the majority. I cannot see how this could be accomplished by being purists. Republicans in Congress seem to be spending more energy on fighting each other than on doing anything useful.

Trump won by appealing to as many people as possible. We need to appeal to interests and values that are important to most people. Our tent, by definition, must be a Big Tent.
