My favorite is misinformation. The term is not as “unsafe” as to call someone a liar. In this latter case, one could be called upon to prove it - and even get into trouble. “Misinformation” sounds softer, more neutral. Like, you receive a call at 3am - “oh, sorry, I must have misdialed”. With this modified language, they can cancel a person just as effectively - but it sounds fuzzier. i call this Wokie Talkie. The new newspeak.

This has been bothering me for a while, all the language shifts going on, there are others. Another loose term is "change." Progressives love change if it tears capitalism apart and breaks down western civ, but climate change... get thee behind me.

<all the language shifts going on> Yes. I am disturbed by the same trend. Honesty is no longer a virtue. Whenever anyone wants to do anything evil, for personal benefit, they re-label it. As if, calling it by a different name, makes it OK. The Chinese government slogan is Common Prosperity. Who could be against that? But this is what they mean by that slogan: mind control, concentration camps, torture and murder for government opponents. They constantly promote the slogan, and constantly deny what they are actually doing. Reality, and what Experts (in government, academia, business) tell us, are totally different.
