Do a cost benefit analysis of a new car.. capital cost + financing cost + or opportunity cost if you are paying cash + extra insurance for the new car + maintenance cost of the current car etc. vs. expected additional mileage you might get etc.

I bet that should cure you of going through the hassle of getting a new one.. Works for me.. However, I am sure I am getting to a point where I might have to one of these days.. My mileage is low but it is now 25 year old so maintenance is a bit of a head ache..

"My thinking is, I am conserving energy and resources by running this vehicle as long as possible, as
opposed to getting a newly-manufactured one."

Same here. I only drive to town now, prolly less than 5000 miles/year. Makes no sense to take an EV that somebody driving 25K might buy.

When the price of gas spiked, I started driving to town at 45 mph, until another vehicle shows up in my mirror. I've been trying to hit the store when it first opens, so I go in at 7AM.
