This implies a conservative propaganda/myth that has no basis in reality.

If it was true, then conservative states and cities would be rich paradises and the liberal ones would be the hell holes.

But we see the opposite. The most conservative countries tend to be the poorest (and often the most corrupt) of their neighbours and the liberal ones are the most prosperous ones. Why is this?

Civilization and progress is not made by conservatives. It is made by the progressives. As time goes by, what was nouveau becomes main stream and in time a conservative value. Case in point is Adam Smith or the American founding fathers. In their time they were extremely progressive. The conservatives were the loyalists and those who believed in hierarchical society rather than believing that all men are equal. Now most conservatives claim those liberal thoughts as their own.

BTW, this is not a put down of the conservatives. Too much progress too fast leads to chaos and rips the society apart. We need people who anchor the society and create stable conditions that allow for progress to happen. But it is a myth that the wealth and civilization is made by the conservatives.
