Shoot, if I could buy a call option on WDC for a 25% up move IN THE NEXT 20 YEARS, with a guarantee of principal, and that pays me interest, I'd jump all over it. Wouldn't you?

Kinda kills the atmosphere for current shareholders and potential acquirers, though, eh?

Jeff, money managers see that WDC is a good co. hit hard by troubles in the industry as a whole, with its stock beaten down severely. A 25% conversion premium is very little, and you get a decent y-t-m, too. These convertibles are a pretty save bet IMO. OK, we get diluted, but WDC is clever to do such a deal now when interest rates are low and they can raise more than they may actually need.
