50 years ago I had a burst appendix. Pain in my lower right abdomen and I was jaundiced.

Drove myself to the ER. Doc looked at me proclaimed it not a big deal but we'll take an XRAY just in case.

Got the XRAY went back to the doc and he said I should go home. I was out in the parking lot when doc came running out and had me come back. It IS a big deal.

I was on the operating table within the hour. They told me later that it had burst but my body formed a cyst around it.

So true! Similar thing happened to me. I woke up at 3 in the morning with severe pain and I said to my wife, “something’s not right, I need to get to the emergency room”, so I described my pain to the doc and he thought it was a kidney stone. I said it seems too far in the front to be that, it might be my appendix. An imagery hour later and I’m rushed into the ER. On top of that I had to wait for my COVID test to come back, and they surrounded me with this weird isolation box on the ER table to do the surgery.

Turned out fine, but I lost 12 inches of my intestine.
