Read Replies (1) | Respond to of 10712 I have a friend who is a NAPA gold dealer. I see their small car delivering to him multiple times a day. I'm not sure who rises above the other. I'd consider them either the better or the next best. I have another friend who I graduated high school with. He worked next door to the bank I worked in from 14 on. He was a wanna be mechanic back then. His entire life he became a very well trained technician. He married a girl that also was in our class. Both class mates from way back. Upon his retirement, he built a shop when his wife's mother died, and they moved back to the farm property. The first thing he did was build a modern shop and moved his unbelievable collection of top shelf tools into his new shop. He and I go way back. When it comes to my not having special tools of the trade (and I have a professional tool box on wheels that is full of hand tools) I trailer my cars to his shop and have the privilege of working with him and learning what and how a pro does it). He doesn't waste his time ordering the parts I need (nor do I want to pay his time for it LOL), so that took me to shopping the various parts stores. O'Reilly rocks in my opinion. Not sure of this, going on memory, but back in the day when I was a Chevrolet GMI student, I studied , got straight A's and was a passionate gear head. Back then in Flint Michigan, I always bought from HI LO parts. I think Oreilly's bought them way back. Good mergers and acquisitions yield better systems and purchasing procedures. I'd venture to say both have benefitted from smart acquisitions. I've no ax to grind and no position. With a 25 % position in a Chrysler Dodge Ram Jeep store, I have enough in the auto sector. With the turn of EV's and the way the OEM's are forcing the realignment of franchise agreements, I'm very glad I sold the partial ownership of the three other stores I sold in 2016. I loved running my big store and trained a lot of very qualified managers, most of which have migrated to the one last store I'm invested in. <smile> Bob
