Nope. Statistics PROVE you 100% wrong. One look at this map shows murder rates are a function of poverty and injustice. Why do European countries have such small murder rates compared to the US??? Murder rates by country Norway, where they don't allow homelessness has a murder rate less than 1/10 of ours. Finland, has the worst European murder rate, 1/4 of ours. Russia has a worse murder rate. Brazil where poverty and inequality reign, a country that was run by a Trump imposter for years has 4 times our murder rate. Murder rates by state: the Slave states with the harshest and most unjust systems have BY FAR the worst murder rates. Mostly states where marijuana is still illegal and poverty is endemic due to continuing Jim Crow crow efforts to disenfranchise black people. Homicide rate by state CDC Murder rate by state Wisevoter You solution is emotional not rational. Your solution to attack the symptom rather than the disease won't work. Its why European countries don't have 20k gun murders every year. They don't have harder crime laws. They have more justice. People don't decide... "I think I'll commit a crime today" because they might not get prosecuted because of California laws. Kids who start committing crime, get caught, and then are turned into habitual criminals by our system don't consider the long term effects of getting a felony on their record. They aren't headed to Harvard or even a cheap college. They and their families, suffer from poverty. They see criminals driving around in new SUVs and they want a car too. YOU probably don't know many felons but people in the ghettos know them. Its why OJ got off, because black people know cops lie. Countries with justice have less crime. Obviously. We have this huge problem that racism and the legacy of slavery caused. It infected us. AGAIN... we jail more people that China with 55 times the population. Are you suggesting we need 2x as many prisons. 10x as many prisons? And remember that would mean more expensive courts, more judges, more PD and Prosecutors... etc ad infinitum. AGAIN: How many more prisons do we need? YOU HAVEN'T ANSWERED.
