Ron, sorry to hear about your sceleroderma. My sister also has it and just went through a double lung transplant which fortunately has proved to be very successful, so even if worst comes to worst, there is hope!

As to salt, I think a key element to limiting salt is not eating it. That is not as trite as it sounds; what I am referring to is that if you only miss salt if you normally eat it. I never use salt in my cooking -- though enough does get into my diet through foods like cheese to keep me healthy -- so when I eat 'regular' cooking that uses salt it tastes too salty to me. If you do stop using salt, expect a week or so when food tastes bland before that wears off and food tastes just like it used to.

I suffer from another immune system problem that, like scleroderma, works off the HLA B27 gene, ankylosing spondylitis, which ravaged my life for over 30 years, so I can doubly sympathize. Maybe triply, since these days even though the AS has left me, I am still dealing with the awful side effects of the drugs I took to help control it.
