Thanks, that seems like a reasonable scenario for how the evolution of money can occur. A thousand years of history of gov't debasing the currency to meet their own demands of waging war etc. will difficult for them to give up without a fight. That, and manipulating the economy to stay in power. I think being able to use that money in the absence of a network would be ideal, too, and without your having to have a device like your phone to use it. And easy enough for a 90 year old to manage. By the way, I saw this woman quick change a naive clerk last fall. I wish I'd been watching more carefully, but she ripped off the clerk of 50 dollars less this trivial merchandise she also got. This woman was about 70 years old which really surprised me.
