Frank, Fulvio, and others who believe I am part of an evil short-syndicate sent here to spread dissension in the ranks...damn, you've blown my cover! How did you find out? I run the syndicate out of a secret room in my basement and have comrades worldwide. Our sworn purpose is to infiltrate internet chat groups like this one and sow seeds of doubt in the minds of innocent investors. Our main strategy is to ask questions, since we have found that most shareholders don't like their basic assumptions challenged. What makes our work easy is the anonymous nature of the internet, where no one really knows who anyone else is. For example, I might be Frank, or Fulvio might be viper, or Roy Carson might be Bill Clinton. Anyone can get numerous accounts at SI or SH, create multiple personalities and then proceed to argue with himself! God, I love the internet! And the best part of all this is that, even though you now know I am evil, it really doesn't matter. Who knows, I might secretly be Robert Fung?

Since you've busted me, I feel I owe you some DD. O.K., here you go.

Frank said:

"Don't know if you were aware of it but some of their other titles;
Robert Fung; Queens Council to the Government of Canada for Asia."

Actually, I wasn't aware of that Frank. Thanks for mentioning it. Now, I know you're big on DD, and I know this guy Fung is one of the reasons many people have invested in KRY, so I've done some digging tonight to see what I could find on the web. Mr. Fung's only "title" is Vice-President of Gordon Capital, an investment banking firm in TO. This Queen's Council thing isn't really a title, like Ambassador or Sir Robert or Rt. Hon. In fact, he isn't the Queen's council to anything. What made me wonder was the spelling of council. Council is plural, as in a group of people. The singular is counsel, as in a lawyer or advisor. Robert Fung is a member of the Prime Minister's Council on Asia Pacific. It's a group of 20 people from the private sector appointed by the Prime Minister to serve as an advisory panel to the government on federal trade policy with Asian countries. He was asked to serve on this council in Nov. 1996 for a two year period. See the news release here: pm.gc.ca

Now, this is actually quite impressive, having a guy with this kind of reputation on the KRY board. He obviously is a man of influence in the investment world in Canada, and his presence at Crystallex is definitely something in their favour. I admit to being impressed. Not to take anything away from Mr. Fung, it is necessary though, to keep some perspective when considering an investment. Prominent people often join boards of directors of small companies and while this is good PR, it does not guarantee great investment returns. The wealthy and politically powerful join the boards of small companies all the time. Let me share another example with you to help illustrate my point.

A while back I looked at a company in the maritimes called Ming Financial which has since changed its name to Eastern Meridian Mining (EME-Alberta). What interested me was the fact that the president is none other than The Rt Hon. Brian Peckford. Surely his presence on the board would ensure success? Unfortunately, Bre-X and the POG have conspired to drive EME's share price from a couple of dollars down to a nickel (and that's Cdn. pennies!) in the last couple of years. Sometimes fate intervenes in the best laid business plans of mice and former Premiers. Thank God I didn't buy any at two dollars.

Now why am I posting this information? Is it to stimulate discussion and get people to challenge their assumptions so that we can all become smarter, better investors?...nah, I'm just a trouble-maker.
