if both sides feel the same about their kids, and they likely do, one would think the war would have ended already I would bet all my lifetime efforts that both sides feel the same about their children. Unfortunately, that's the private side of life, which is subsumed by the public side of life on which we all depend for survival. Unfortunately, the public side of life suffers from the John McCains, Zbigniews, Stalins, and those who at 2 years old would take the toys from other children, throw sand in their faces in a sand pit, hit them and boss them. Unfortunately, in the many sandpits I have attended, there is frequently such a child or 2. Unfortunately, they grow up with that way of thinking as their frame of reference. Unfortunately there are takers, dominators, authoritarians, enslavers who do not see life as a synergistic co-operative, many hands make light work, individually rewarding while publicly beneficial community. Fortunately, Blessed Are the Meek for They Shall Inherit the Earth is kind of generally true. In the transition from chimpanzee life to Utopia, we're only part way there. Unfortunately, there is still a LOT of suffering to go through while the genetic disposition is gradually eliminated from the gene pool. Fortunately, most of us get to die of old age these days [maybe not just in the top decile of countries either]. Life expectancy in India for example has soared during my lifetime. Africa too. Unfortunately, there are still quadrillions of tons of tnt equivalent ready to go fission and fusion after being delivered to a neighbourhood near You and Me. And Cogito, Greenspirit and many other Siers, along with hordes of regular people think that's a great idea rather than stopping the fighting and starting the voting. Fortunately, they too will die rather than just inflict the terror, horror and surreal MADness on other people. Unfortunately, their imaginations have them bound to "We got to get him" atavistic antediluvian chimpoid "thinking". So they hug their sons after trying to kill the other sons' fathers based on their own bung, misinformed, short-sighted and ignorant "thinking". And many have succeeded. Fortunately, the sins of the father are not visited on the sons. So I bear no animosity to the current crop of Germans and Japanese whose ancestors tried to and did kill my family in their attempts to conquer near and far. Unfortunately, feuds and warring can carry on for generations. Fortunately, these days, there are good reasons to forget the past and get on with the future. Mqurice
