Once upon a time, I wore contact lenses (the hard, not the soft variety).

Me, too. With great success for about five years, and then I began to have major problems. But now I have the throwaways (but I don't, since I only wear them for Important Occsaions). Fantastic. You really can't feel 'em. My problem with the those is that they give me the sight of an eagle. Cool if you're birdwatching or driving, but a bummer when you want to read the menu. Which, after all, is what really counts. I was always myopic, but the farsighted thing has crept up in recent years.

Oh dear! So very confessional tonight.

I too would rather not get up close and personal with mornings. What a dreadful time of the day!

Are you not stunned to realize that (notwithstanding the horrible experience of Public School in the United States) there are actually people who leap out of bed at 5 a.m. and go jogging?

These are the things that make me glad I live in Italy.
