One of Jobs' early backers at NeXT , former IBMer Jim Cannavino , is headlining 1998's Internet/Intranet Application Dev. Conf. :

" James Cannavino, the former president and chief executive officer of Perot Systems once thought to be a potential candidate for the top spot at Apple Computer, will be keynoting the 1998 Internet/Intranet Application Development (IAD) Conference and Expo.

Cannavino's keynote will focus on the need for innovation in software development projects and in the software industry...

The former IBM executive will also look at trends in the computer industry by examining the companies he expects will thrive, which companies will suffer, and what technologies can be expected to succeed over the next five years or so.

The fourth annual show, scheduled to take place March 18-20 at the New York Hilton & Towers in New York City, will provide solutions for complex application development issues in the Conference track, while the Expo Hall will feature tools, technologies and services for app/dev managers, IS executives and Internet developers to evaluate .
