Wow Dave!!! Nice Valentine's present from CUBE and Intel! Very cool design. The CUBE rocket has been on the launch pad and we just had liftoff!

The 740's VMI interface means that we have standardized digital video inputs and outputs very close to the motherboard level. This is monumental. Let me say it again. The 740's VMI interface means that we have standardized digital video inputs and outputs very close to the motherboard level.

The standardized VMI interface for the Cube and Zoran solutions is a good thing for CUBE. It means that OEMs will not be nervous about using it because they can swap DVD solutions at any time in the design cycle, or even at the customer's site. This means higher volume, because everyone likes a standard interface. It means higher volume for CUBE if they have the "best" product at a given price. I believe that CUBE's many years and $$$ of R&D and experience in digital video will allow it to provide leading products at the right price. CUBE has always had leading products (MPEG2 encoder chip sets, first single-chip MPEG2 decoder -- ZiVA, first single chip MPEG1 codec -- MVP, leading VCD products, and the first single chip MPEG2 codec -- DVx). There's no reson to believe that CUBE won't continue its leadership.

P.S.: Rarebird's ignorance of the fundamentals has, well, ..... shown him to be ignorant, or at the very least plain wrong.
