I haven't noticed any issues on my iPhone 13 Pro upgraded to 16.5. Battery life seems normal.

Your iPhone shouldn't be running hot with no apps open, that's for sure.

Only other thing I can suggest is a hard reset (NOT factory reset, though you could do that too if you want to reinstall from a backup and the hard reset doesn't fix it).

The method will depend on the iPhone model you have.
