Pat,

<< Would you do me a favor and check out the
Nuera web site and tell me how you think DSPs play into their FRAD products? >>

Ohhh, I don't know if Im your man by any means. :-/ From looking there, it seems that DSPs are essential for their IP FRADS. Makes sense, bc it seems like these things have to do several things at once.

I could call and ask if the DSP they use is TI's. I also wonder how much market share Nuera will get with the Newbridges and ASNDs and Cisco's out there with decent FRADs. Perhaps Mark can answer a question I have about people like QWST, whose whole gameplan is to get the world to be shoving IP over networks...does QWST need IP FRADS, or will they use massive ATM/SONET switches or a combination????????

I do know that I just put in a 56K modem from USRX. I knew there was a TXN dsp in there, but I did not know how big that chip was...wow. It was almost as big as a processor! I also figured out another reason I want ADSL. I just want to be able to be "on" the Internet rather than "log on" at Midnight and literally wake up all my neighbors with the "Ga kishhhhhhhh BaaaDong BaDooooong Ki Chissssssssssss Khhhhhhhhhhhaaa Ba Dong" I'm gonna get kicked out of here soon. :-)

all imho
