Interesting, but do we know how old those guesses are? Have you run Q1 through your accuracy equation?

The problem with being too optimistic about AMD in Q2 is that their core markets were known to be sluggish (client and data center CPU) while their products in the hot market segment (data center GPU) aren't ready yet (MI300). Meanwhile we know that Intel picked up in client CPU as much as AMD has in total sales there, yet the market was poor. Meanwhile the overall semi sector is not so hot, so Xilinx portion is likely seeing reduced growth as well.

However, given that AMD actually guided down for the qtr whereas NVDA guided up massively, and INTC succeeded in growing, its possible that AMD's guidance was massively sandbagged, and they are going to beat handily. But Lisa doesn't have a history of doing that IMHO, so I'm guessing the 5.3B was an honest shot at what they expected, and I don't think market conditions have been much different than expected.

Its possible that the MI200/250 et al have gotten much better traction due to the NVDA shortages in data center, and that this has magically come to AMD's rescue. We find out tomorrow!
