Rod IMO you are thinking about this wrong. For me it is not an issue of voice compression as much as voice quality when decompressed. It took DR awhile to get it right and minimize distortion and it will take others time as well. The patents I view simply as an obstacle which will slow others down. I do believe that if they get ready to do so we will hear about it from tests and customer feedback. Inacom has been in the field for some time and they know who has what if it is at all close to launch. While speculative just about the only good thing that I can think of in regards to the stock price and all the talk about a niche product is that competitors might have been disuaded. This is not a niche product. If it came to be that someone develops a product and threatens DR then the decision might have to come down to selling the company. Rod we have talked about the internet before. I think that the internet will have an opposite effect to the one you expect. Say voice over IP. Nobody is rolling out broad coverage. It would be self-defeating. Deustche Telecom wants to use it long distance and only from some chosen locations for example. Rod think of it: they are just getting started figuring out how to monitor traffic. The chore ahead is enormous before the backbone can accomodate even a fraction of the corporations from even a fraction of the possible locations with even limited control on traffic. I stated earlier that I believe uneven reliability is unavoidable and will make BT useful for years.
