Some stuff about Wireless communications (LSI presenting its GSM chip at both conferences - from LSI's web page): wow-com.com (55.5 million wireless subscribers in the US?) And some more (exponential functions are your friends): gsmworldcongress.com With every single second that passes, one new customer is signing up to a GSM digital network somewhere in one of 109 countries/ areas of the world. In just one year, GSM customer levels have doubled from 20 to 46 million. The Association's objective, announced at the beginning of 1997, of reaching 50 million GSM customers worldwide by the end of the year is almost certain to be achieved several months ahead of target! --- And tasteless stuff: The NYT describes the line-item veto veto as "a major blow" (random choice of words?) to President Clinton and Republican congressional leaders. ---- Dumb observation: Rate of change of Information on LSI's home page correlates with stock price? Virtually nothing was presented last Fall and then like the Phoenix lots of recent stuff. Similar to last year if I recall. Yes any little thing that could cause the stock to go up... Maybe just seasonal... ----

In case any one missed it there is a nice slide presentation (need bigger fonts!) on LSI's single chip GSM baseband chip: lsilogic.com esp. these slides: lsilogic.com lsilogic.com (This is more like it - SLIDE presentations! - big bang for the buck info. wise) (Know squat about engineering but it appears that LSI is emphasizing the mixed signal chip integration here as a particularly significant development.) All told and with my ample naivete this looks like a funky cool medina chip... signs of a blockbuster?
