The opening in the paper wrapper was
oriented differently than the opening in the cardboard cover, keeping the record from
sliding out. EUREKA !!


That's what passed for "high tech" in those days. I remember when the first plastic was used for knobs in automobiles. It was brittle and cracked after a year or so. People wanted their wooden knobs back on the doors and dashboard. It's been an interesting time to live in.

well, of course it was turned so the sleeve wouldn't open
to the slit in the dust jacket.
and many collections came precisely like that. unadorned.
only lazy friends would return vinyl into a sleeve facing the slit in the dust jacket....right?
but some were in plastic, without a doubt.
some were not by design.
