I'm intrigued about Compaq's prospects with Alpha, but don't have enough information at this point to make up my mind. I'd be very positive if I got the right answers to a few questions.

Just how compatible with the NT that runs on Intel is the NT that runs on Alpha?

I understand that you should be able to run the same programs on both, but what I see are Alpha specific versions of things. This tells me that either it's required or for performance (or some other reason) it's worth creating an Alpha specific version. Is this true, and if so why is it true?

How much money and effort will Microsoft be willing to throw behind Alpha to guarantee that there are two viable platforms on which to run NT?
