Not so. Kennedy did not have Hodgkin's, he had Addison's disease. mhhe.com
I believe that the treatment of the time, corticoids, would have ultimately killed him by destroying either his liver or kidneys. That might explain the "fatalistic and bitter" demeanor that you assert. Any M.D.'s out there?

Kennedy, in contrast to the "vigor" PR deception, had always been a very sickly person and spent much of his youth bedridden. In actuality JFK1 was just about the least vigorous President in history.

The back problem was unrelated to Addison's.

Interesting historical footnote: I have read that Kennedy remained so erect after being shot because he was wearing a back brace that fateful day.

He was fatalistic and bitter because he had Hotchkin's. He even walked in braces when not in the public view!

Honestly. Look, I'm not trying to be unkind here, but could we perhaps actually read a little history? JFK never wore braces; FDR did. The latter could in fact not walk, and used a modified wheelchair when not in public view. Kennedy had a bad back and Addison's disease, which is a disorder of the pancreas. Hodgkins' is now treatable, but it wasn't in the '60s; he would have died pretty quickly.
