US government officials appear to be hired based on criteria other than intellect. That is what happens when religious fundamentalists take over power. Power in the US is held by the descendants of the Puritans. The apples don't fall far from the tree. The woke in the US are religious fundamentalists just like the Greens in Germany are Nazi. This is not meant to be Hyperbole
