Homemade maple suger converted to syrup and then blended into liquid bear fat was stored and then used as a dip for flame broiled venison.

This would, I think, be extremely good. The bear fat, at least if previously rendered, would be rather like bacon fat, and combined with maple syrup would (as long as you kept it hot) be quite delicious. I'd add just a touch of vinegar, though, maybe a bit of shallot and some crushed rosemary and sage (pretty much obligatory with game).

Seriously, you could recreate this with bacon fat (or lard, cfr. Cooking with...), and I think you'd be very pleased by the result.
