>> I'll just let it die after this<<

So I get the last word. <G>

>>but Newsom signed a law last spring that basically said if the value of stolen goods is less than $950, it's a misdemeanor.<<

Once it will be a misdemeanor, twice the DA will stack it into a felony.

>>Due to workloads, the police don't have time to investigate or prosecute so you can basically steal less than that much each time and get away with it.<<

I guarantee you all those group shop lifts are investigated.

>> Stores can't get insurance if they risk employee life trying to stop it so they let it go since they know the police aren't coming. (Defund the police)<<

The police are coming. Even in California.

>> If this spreads, we are going to have vigilante squads again. Count on it.<<

Doubtful.

>>What does this have to do with poverty? Sucker punching a woman half your size? How brave.<<

Poverty breaks down morality and social codes. Makes any behavior acceptable inside that bubble of "you are picked on, so it is OK to pick on others."

If you notice that encounter lasted 52 seconds. Police response is more than that.
But facial recognition software will identify them. They will be prosecuted.

What's the point of that video? Showing those clowns? Criminal acts like that should be prosecuted, and I can't help but assume they will be charged if that video is being shown to any officer in that town.

I can show you video after video of "Karen's" being just as ignorant (although less violent) to young black men. What would that prove? That they are racist? Ignorant? Should be prosecuted for a "hate crime"?

As Q0ne was pointing out, poverty is the leading cause of crime. We should all start there....not sure why you can't see that perspective?
