Merit scholar, I am.

You, too? We're a dime a dozen, I fear. Shall we compare SAT scores? Oh Duncan, really you're one of the most comically conceited people I've ever run across. Has it never occurred to you that quite a few of us here at SI have the kind of educational credentials you find so extraordinary in yourself?

It's an adverb.

Well take it up with Chambers Murray. Dimwit that I am, I still fail to take your point. Are you perhaps thinking of "indubitabilis"? Which, however, obviously means "indubitable". And then there is "indubitatus": "undoubted". Ah, um, how exactly were you declining the theoretical noun to which this theoretical adverb attaches so as to arrive at "indubito" rather tahn "indubitato", which in itself may be considered in many contexts dubious?

I've spent many, many years reading legal documents of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. In Latin. Publish taht stuff, too, bucko. Even so, I don't claim to be the New Cicero. I work chiefly with medieval Latin. So of course I defer to your high school experience of these things.

I'm no Merit Scholar, I'm no Jack Kennedy either, however I'll take Duncan's judge of character any day. Hands down, no contest. Seems to be a lot closer to reality. Pass me the deer jerky.
