A word of caution! Although I don't follow this thread often ,I am interested in exploration prospects, particularly those that are happening in my backyard. The recent price appreciation in Avalon may be the result of something other than the Big Whopper at Separation Narrows but, personally I don't think so. Last Wed. Chris Hodgson (Minister of Northern Development of Mines in Ontario) paid a visit to the site. The next day he is singing the potential of the find and it is makes the local newspapers. This guy knows what he is looking at like he knows the back of his head. I fly over the drill site every so often to gauge activity and change . IMHO I think the latest number of upticks may be nothing but hype. I don't keep abreast of their other properties as many of you do, so possibly there is other rational for recent spike.

Best of Luck Don

There was certainly nothing promotional about the Ontario Minister of Northern Development and Mines visit to the BIG Whopper last Thursday. This is just a good news story for northern Ontario and recognition of a rare metal discovery/world class deposit. The following articles have brought this property to the attention of a much larger group of investors:

1. Kenora Miner & News, February 13, 1998: Headline "The Big Whopper worth $1 billion"

Ontario Minister of Northern Development and Mines
- "A mineral deposit worth $1 billion ... potential to sustain production up to 50 years."

2. Kenora Enterprise, February 15, 1998: Headline "Lithium-rich Big Whopper a billion-dollar baby: Rare metals mean more than pocket change"

Dr. Fred Breaks, Ontario Geological Survey
- "Its a world-class deposit in your own backyard."

For those with any questions on the geology of the Separation Rapids area, you may want to attend the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) International Convention and Trade Show, March 8 - 11, 1998, in Toronto. Not only will AVL be there ... NOTE: Dr. Fred Breaks, OGS, will have a display on the "... Discovery of the Big Whopper Pegmatite: Largest Complex-Type Rare-Metal Pegmatite in Ontario", at the MNDM Ontario Pavilion, Constitution Hall, Room 105 Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

As for the recent increase in price, just my opinion, but the current share price has a long way to go to reach a fair valuation of 'Big Whopper (not to mention Wolf Mountain).
