I got a cable modem 18 months ago; they promised me 10 Mbit both
ways, but it is only 3 mbit each way. My connection stalls some
5-10 times a day, between 5 seconds and 10 minutes each time.
When this happens I lose buffers in editor. This is what they call
98% uptime. Now I am thinking of going back to modem, because I
find myself doing mostly email and typing anyway. I can live
without the ad-banners (well, the Netscape junk-buster plugin
takes care of that too). The thing about phone line, the
connection works 99.9% of the time, or something.
