Jews in the US are usually pretty liberal. And that goes for orthodox as well. This creates a problem for Jews when they try to be loyal to the liberal cause which is increasingly turning against Jews. Thus you see liberals scraping off pics of kidnapped Israelis while either laughing, Lots of liberals think Pals have an innate right to kill Jewish kids. Like the (late?) Christine Grace Barkley told me long ago .... its all (killing Jewish kids) they can do. -------------------------------- My family has known a Jewish family for yrs from SW Houston that includes several orthodox members, a messianic Jew, and a convert to Islam. They're lived together for years. The mom and daughters are orthodox and went (presumably still do) to a habad house synagogue on Fondren. Funny there's another orthodox synagogue a block south of there behind a McDonalds. Which is how I came to notice it. She is the nicest member of the family. I guess she is proof of the concept that orthodox women will stay loyal a man no matter how he turns out ... like Meyer Lanskys wife did. The dad was a pawnbroker and got in legal trouble for receiving stolen mdse, went to jail, became messianic. I know Jews will tell you such folks aren't really Jews, but he thinks he still is. He'd say he was going to temple when he was going to his messianic church. He still bought things like office machines, fixed them up and resold through a friends pawn store. Their oldest son told our son he hated being Jewish and eventually converted to Islam. He was also shy and unfortunate looking so I figured he was thinking the Muslims would help him find a wife. According to our son, it didn't work. The muslims accepted him formally but still hated him. No one would marry their daughter off to a Jew even if he claimed islam. I presume he gave up on the muslim thing eventually. I ran into him after moving here in the Barnes and Noble store on 1960. He had changed personality wise. Smiling, friendly, he had a job with the county. Seemed very different but couldn't think of a way of asking him about the muslim thing.
