But most of the big corps. are getting the zip as part of a pc....what i mean is that when i buy a model of cpq, or dell that i want based on cpu speed, etc. it comes with a zip....i don't make my choice most of the time on zip being the one piece that makes my mind up...so a lot of corps. have lots of zip already installed......without them making it the "standard" for their company.....enjoyed the discussion

>>A FUD campaign tied to the 'impending arrival' of the 'soon to be delivered', 'answer to all your storage questions', 'that's almost free', and 'never has an error' device just might have enough impact to cause corporate buyers and OEMs to hold off making ZIP or JAZ their storage standard. Once corporations adopt a standard, of any kind, it is hell to try to get them to change to something else. SONY needs to buy time. KE needs to get those commitments.<<

Ben -

Sony is not just one big entity willing to throw all of its resources behind a single product. The computer products division only has so much money and so much leeway.

As for KE needing to get commitments from OEMs and corporations, well, hasn't he already? For well over a year all the major PC makers, including Sony, have included Zip as standard.
