I am older and retired, still ICE. Plus live way up north in cold climate. Do not drive enuff to have an impact one way or another. There are a few BEV's here, but not too many. Probably many more hybrids. However I don't think it will be too long down the road and we will see some Cybertrucks.

I am an old ICE nut too, as a youngun worked in a shop, overhauled many engines mostly diesels. Owned a muscle car for a spell too.

Imo in the end it is all about efficiencies at using energy, horsepower density or Hp per unit wt, and maintenance which affects cost of ownership. Regs can come into play as well, where applicable.

EV's win all these battles hands down. Just the fact. I felt honored to drive down the Nikola Tesla Boulevard in Hamilton Ontario once upon a time. He was a true genius, I understand how induction motors work, except maybe a bit about how the induced rotor current is generated. If you look around your home you have many induction motors or variants in use, then there are the DC motors used in all our power tools.

And I fully agree it is just new technology, came about primarily from improvements here and there, especially batteries, but more so because all this stuff came together and was integrated into a useful package. Musk has a lot of innate intelligence, knowledge, vision, awa common sense. Maybe a bit of a rare combination for the typical CEO these days.

Government is throwing tax payers money into battery research. The so called scientists working on SS batteries are not going to bite off the hand that feeds them. Kinda makes you wonder if the whistle blowers that say SS batteries are a pipe dream are on to something? Promoting there is a better energy source then oil reduces the resistance to shutting down oil. The government has thrown money into solar power & windmills how is that working out? Will SS batteries be strike 3
