Brumar is wrong if he thinks there were no slaves 15000 years ago. Slavery is not unknown among hunter gatherer societies. Not common, but it exists. However, slaves became really important with the invention of agriculture. Large scale agriculture dates back to at least 10000 BCE. However, smaller scale agriculture was occurring by 21000 BCE around the Sea of Galilee. It wouldn't be a huge surprise to find out those dates could be pushed back a lot further.
