(LOL) I'm not cleared to do commodities (got creamed back in college on sugar and never returned), BUT if I did I'd buy copper and uranium for the long run. I'm a bit beared up at this point in time. I hate to even type it BUT! CLX 3 day has been overbot for a long time, and I think we're due a reset. I bot to close all of my long ago sold puts and scraped up enough cash to BUY a Schwab money market Fund. That puts me in JPM CD's, Treasurys, and a Schwab MMF. I sold my last piece of Texas commercial property we partners bought 25 years ago. I have a nice capital gain to pay taxes on April 2024, and am building cash. Most of my dividend Aristocrats are extended in price to where the yield on the dividend is not high enough for my desired investment threshold. So I'm chilling. The idea of XOM, CVX, PSX, or COP has me salivating, but I'm not a buyer till they yield 5%, minimum and I'll double down at 6-7%. I have a full position in XOM and KMI, but I'd do more, if a substantial decline evolves. No REIT's or pharma. Semi's look a bit extended and I think they'll get cheaper before they get on the Capex boom train that is coming. I've been hearing margin expansion and lower rates too much, me thinks they are looking for bag holders. My account is 59% equities and 41% cash or fixed income (not counting my preferreds that cover my real estate taxes, insurance, utilities, and food). I'm about to have subcontractors come take the support load bearing walls out of my home and install steel beams , which will allow new windows outside siding, roof and soffit/facia,and a very much opened up lower floor. So my attention will go to doing it efficiently and correctly and hoping a buy the dip makes me lured into buying some more dividend friendly stocks. Breeze has been supreme on calculating price targets. and I've coined a new top timing device: Breezes Bingo Frequency (BBF top). He's been awesome and some 2 waves are due IMO. CLX offsets are looming large and that usually goes 45 - 60 days (minimum) and then we'll be predisposed with election news. Wall Street got their big spender in Joe Biden. That has carried this BULL quite high. More and more I see politics not doing much. Rates have stopped going down and it is getting expensive to service that debt. I do NOT trust Modern Monetary Theory. I like what I see in the House of Representatives. We need to watch our spending. IT IS THE PROBLEM! There could well be a lot of bellyaching as we quit feeding the worlds immigrants and those who don't like to work for a living. 1960 ish riots? I do wonder how long we can kick this can down the road without unleashing our collective excellent business sense and begin to harvest and sell to the world our natural resources which are huge. We do it better and cleaner than anyone. I do believe our competitors buy and influence folks who want us to go broke and allow other communist countries and dictators an opportunity to pilfer the world as we stay dumb and stupid. If I should be so lucky as to see these changes, I'm without a clue on how prudent spending will change our economy. Let alone know how long that transition would take. I'm agnostic about investing more. I guess I have been since I rang the Brooks Automation distribution top which was huge to Jan and myself. I never reinvested much of that windfall, thus the Treasuries and some preferreds. I keep liquid as I'd like to buy some more ag land round here and let the farmers work it. The the crazies will outlaw dairy farming due to flatulence! There are a lot of crazy things going on! I'm raising cash, and going to spend big on solar water heaters combined with air based geo pumps and my existing fuel oil water boiler. My architect has a current project that is installing photovoltaic panels for electrical needs. I have 40 acres and some of it is hilly and has very good southern exposure to the winters sun travel. That and a battery backup, with power cables buried to the house will take me off the grid when if necessary. At worst keep my monthly bills minimized. Lord willing, my garden will continue to challenge me and produce healthy organic foods to preserve for a rainy day. Begining to look like a prepper, but really, just trying to live healthy with a back up of great foods. We moved it all to the school so our closets and cabinets will come out and I was surprised at the volume we've amassed. Guess I'm aging and not as aggressive/ambitious as I once was. We're all aging, it's just that it's getting to my head "about how many years can be productive", and I've got projects to finish. I've wondered if it will hit me. I think it is slowly sinking in. That's a BIG confession for me. LOL Bob
