JP,

There are some things that Apple has done in the name of “usability” for the masses that is not right or good. Overall, I do think that they get a lot right but when they change something for the worse that I use, I do find it aggravating. I think the music app needs a complete overhaul.

You might want to sign-up for beta versions of macOS software for a while. To be sure, it can be dicey, but the betas come with an app for replying directly to Apple developers with problems you might run across. The reported problems do get fixed eventually. You can bail out of the beta program. You need to turn beta off in Settings > General > Software Update and wait until the next general update is applied. You can't directly backdate to the previous general version without reinstalling that version.

Sorry to hear about your troubles with Apple's apps. I've not had the trouble with Music deleting songs from playlists and I don't use the captions feature in Photos.

I have noticed some of my album cover art doesn't properly transfer to the iPhone, and the fix I found is to delete that album from the iPhone and resync with my Mac.
