Why would they want to?

There's no money in it I think. I'm guessing the software engineering is pretty daunting. It's not like everyone has one. And in FB's case its a competing product.

I think the AVP will sell eventually to a limited market. Even at $1500 I think the market will remain limited.

Meanwhile Apple continues to upgrade mostly what benefits them not guys like me IMO. In a recession I could envision a long slow decline in the reign of the iPhone. Particularly as IMO Apple's fallen behind with AI which is perplexing as Siri was early out of the gate.

My thinking made me wonder how happy Android users are:

44% Very happy, and I'm not upgrading
36% Happy, but might upgrade for right phone (combined 80% happy)

11% Not unhappy... can't afford/justify (combined 91% feel OK or happy)

8% Not happy, looking to upgrade

Probably not scientific but that's pretty good. I'm still using my 3 and 5 year old $80 androids. I'm happy with them. I'm waiting to move to upgrade so my new area code will match my location.
