U.S. and U.K. Submit Article 51 Letters to the U.N. Security Council on Middle East Operations

Baghdad is contesting US claims that yesterday's operations were coordinated with the government.

Iran, Iraq & Russia condemn the #US violations against 2 sovereign countries & call for an emergency meeting of the UN, which the US would invoke under Article 51 for 'self-defense'. Iraq confirmed that there had been no prior coordination, a necessary step as the Americans r present as guests, not aggressors.

The Iraqi parliament is calling for an emergency session to take measures against the US aggression on Iraqi territory, in particular against the border security forces tasked with monitoring and confronting #ISIS incursions into the country.

Yesterday, ISIS took the opportunity to attack the positions of Hasd al-Shabi and other villages in al-Anbar at the same time as the US bombing, engaging in running battles with the Iraqi Army and the Popular Mobilization Force.
