Just to elaborate, living in a safe and prosperous society costs. One way or another you will end up paying for it. Each prisoner costs ~$60k each year in direct expenses, and another $40k in indirect expenses. There are ~160k prisoners in the US. So every year some $16B is spent on them, to say nothing of the opportunity cost of if they were productive members.

If a fraction that money can be spent to lower the number of prisoners, it is a win-win for everyone. You may not like it that you are just paying not to be robbed, but like I said, one way or another you end up paying for it. And just as the most expensive sex can be the free sex, the most expensive society is a free (as in beer) society.

Agree but we solve inequality by taxing THE INDIVIDUAL for salary and keep raising the rates... we tax million per year salaries in CA at 13.3% and it might have forced Tiger to move to Florida but many like Steph, LeBron, and Shohei Ohtani find it is worth living here even with the taxes.

CORPORATIONS should have a lower tax rate. Then tax the workers. Also, publish the CEO salaries, eliminate the carried interest scam used by billionaires funding both parties AND join me and voting NO on EVERY pay package I'm asked to vote on as a shareholder.

BTW, Trump RAISED our taxes significantly because we can't deduct the 9.3% to 13.3% most with good jobs or better in Taxifornia pay to the State. Also, the average house in the cities probably has a property tax over $10K too... so we can only deduct that first $10K./
