Eric, Why do some of us think your pining for fossil fuels irrespective of the environment! Because "saving the environment" has never been the primary selling point in a new car. Sure, it can be a major selling point for a class of consumers who care about that stuff and want to drive around emitting smug all over the place. But that is not what most consumers are looking for. As for dire warnings about the end of the world, yada yada yada, not many people are feeling that, except the wackos that go around defacing fine art under the guise of "Just Stop Oil." Tenchusatsu
