You hear all sorts of that nonsense near market tops, unfortunately.

I have a Keynote speech Cramer gave around the time of the internet bubble peak saying you should only own these 10 stocks or some nonsense like that. I think 6 went bankrupt and the others were bought out or under performed.

I kept the link in my bookmarks and the wonderful new AI brought it up quickly just by typing "Cramer keynote" in my toolbar.

I believe the theory you can own the total stock market index with a market cap weighting and do just fine long-term as failures of one company usually lead to huge growth of others.
