Very good recommendations and comment. For now, the compromise is that we are not reinvesting dividends automatically and I continue to discuss with him any moves I do make. Hoping by discussing it helps him feel more in control. Part of the problem, in my opinion, he is not used to seeing big moves in the portfolio value. He mentioned a few weeks ago about how much we had "lost" when the market was down. Now that the market is back "up" he hasn't said much. Will just keep working to keep him informed and not make any drastic moves. Too many unknowns with markets and interest rates to go to completely cash. Like another person commented, what happens if we go to cash and then interest rates drop and the market goes to all-time highs, now will have less income due to buying back with stock prices higher.
