I tried analyzing oil stocks using various oil metrics such as EV/2P, BOE/d costs, etc. That did not work for me. Maybe I caught the cycle wrong, didn't have patience, didn't get the metrics right, or didn't apply the analysis to the right companies. My conclusiion: Congrats to you for your work, effort, patience -- yikes. "Honestly, it is just a process of digging information on a timely basis and knowing what to look for and in the case of the price cycle of the commodity patience of waiting for the sector to become way out of favor". Me do all this? I've learned this business analysis is not a one-foot hurdle for me. There's got to be a better/easier way or I'm out, or only going to copy somebody else's work. And diversify positions.
