But you are mischaracterizing what I said. "bought" is different than "influenced". Bought means that you are beholden to the money because otherwise you won't be reelected and will be a lame duck while in the office.

Influence means that someone convinces you that their point of view is the right thing to do. These two are not the same thing.

I have nothing against industry groups making their case as to why some policy is good or bad. I do have a lot of problems when their checkbook speaks louder than their logic.
