Pocotrader, the point I was making is that Carter's legacy was forever marred by the 1979 oil crisis, which in turn was triggered by the Iranian Revolution.

Carter's response to the revolution, both in the events leading up to it as well as the events that followed, were completely ineffective and turned American foreign policy into the laughing stock of the world.

Meanwhile, 1979 was marked by gas lines and rationing, something that is conveniently fading from the collective memory of the American public.

That's why it's funny how Wharfie wants to invoke Jimmy Carter's legacy when it comes to gas prices. I really doubt he did that as an example of who NOT to follow.
