It is so confusing with the low income tax rates and credits and vanishing subsidies for things like ACA where early retired geezers too early for Medicare can get ACA credits if income is low enough but it can all vanish if they cross a magic threshold. The higher rates on savings have given many of those unexpected surprises at tax time.

The whole system is too complicated and encourages avoidance or in my case, just not working very hard as why bother if the government gets half?
