Interstate list price for lead acid battery for Prius Prime vs. MBZ 320 CLK:

Prius $225
MBZ $235

Not sure why you think the Prius would be expensive. Sure, the lithium-ion "traction battery", or whatever it's called, is probably $1000+ if/when it would need to be replaced. At 7500 mi/yr I would not expect to ever get there. It is warranted for 10 years, 150,000 miles. Hybrid control electronics and inverter are covered for 8 years, 100,000 miles.

And it's a Toyota - they don't break, in my experience. Consumer Reports agrees.

Google AI:
The cost of a new battery for a Toyota Prius PHEV hybrid can range from $2,000 to $8,000, depending on several factors: Battery type, Location, State, and Whether the battery is purchased after the warranty...

Hybrid car batteries are more expensive than lead-acid batteries because they are larger and more powerful, and they power the electric motors that help hybrid cars run. On average, a Toyota Prius battery should last 8–10 years or around 150,000 miles

The point is this incremental battery cost needs to be subtracted from the fuel savings. Say $2,000 divided by 150K miles is only a penny a mile but if it costs $8K, then it is 5 cents a mile for the battery. If you get 50 MPG with the car, you need to add 50 miles of battery depreciation or $0.50 to $2.50 per GALLON to the price to operate the car.
