What next? Trying to get kids hooked?

I think Chuckie Cheese just signed an endorsement contract. Probably going to be a billboard somewhere belching baby goudas to enslave our unsuspecting youth. :^)

More: GTE Readies Short-Range Radio Frequency Technology
EE Times - 02/19/98 2:51 p.m. EST

GTE is preparing to throw a new wireless networking option into the
mix of mobile systems technologies. Tentatively named Body LAN, the
short-range radio frequency (RF) technique is aimed at giving mobile
devices such as cellular phones, pagers, and handheld PCs a smart way
to interact with one another.

The chips are small enough, and require little enough power that
they could run off lithium button batteries and be incorporated in
pager/watch designs, which is one target the company is pursuing
along with handheld organizers. "We could make the 3Com PalmPilot
[handheld computer] a hub device, and we are excited about the
possibilities of using such a device as a Body LAN-enabled display,"
he said.
