Comets, which are chunks of rock and dirty ice water, do not have a bearing on human events (except those primitive humans that react to a comet in the sky with earthbound superstitions). Many years are eventful in human history -- most are not presaged or accompanied by a comet. There is strong evidence for earthshifts. I believe the way to avert it in the future is through knowledge, applied science (technology) and weather-control/terraforming. Also it's another good reason to start colonizing the planets. Yes, I also do believe that man (lower case m) has the power to avert/modify the gloom and doom scenario, but only thru a relationship with the Living God and thru His power. Man (lower case m) has always managed to screw anything up in his path. bobby
