Anybody who believes the Y2K problem is already fixed is in for a huge surprise. There were a bunch of assessment tools sold last year by VIAS and a couple of other mainframe Y2K firms. The remediation of all that code is yet to be done. What percentage of sites have you heard of that are Y2K compliant? Not many.

I would expect that the large short positions are being taken by professional chartists who are predicting much lower levels.

VIAS at the current level (29'ish) is a bargain, in my opinion. It wouldn't take much to get it back to 40 by the end of their fiscal quarter (in March?). That's a 33% Return On Investment. Not bad.

TED
